Plates offer a flatter, often larger, image surface than bowls, without the problem of a centre concavity into which runny glazes might run.
I experimented with many different methods of applying various colours and types of glazes: brushing, spraying, pouring over the plate’s surface.
The freedom of the process was difficult to control, so there were many failures, but the successes produced abstract or semi-abstract images that could be quite interesting. Many reminded me of Hubble Telescope images of the cosmos.
