In 1998, the ten Canadian artists involved the previous summer with the Greek/Canadian Intercultural Ceramics Symposium, decided to have a group exhibition to commemorate our experiences at The Works Festival of Arts in Edmonton.

As I had made a minotaur for our exhibitions in Greece, and with the luxury of more time to do it in my own studio, I decided to make another, larger and more explicit beast, along with a couple of ‘ceremonial vessels’ entwined by octopi, as I had seen in the Minoan Museum on Crete.

‘shrine to the beast‘, shown at The Works Arts Festival, Edmonton, AB, summer 1998.
