Welcome to my perspective on clay.

I spent 35 years exploring the many aspects of clay in both functional and sculptural forms.

This website is an archive of those quests.

My first exposure to this versatile material happened in 1970 in Edmonton. I was invited to try throwing on a wheel. I’d found my medium! I took lessons at a local studio and summer workshops at the Banff Centre. Within no time I had put a wheel in our basement and built a gas kiln in the garage. By 1976, I felt confident enough to leave my job at CBC TV to work full-time with clay.

In 1980, we found a property in High River, Alberta, with an extra large garage that was easily converted into a studio and I began showing my work in galleries throughout the province and nationally.

We thrived in High River for 31 years. But when our daughter and her husband moved to Stratford, Ontario, we decided to relocate to the nearby historic town of St. Marys.

Now, instead of working with clay, I’m trying to do some painting and writing, along with putting my theatre training to use by designing and building sets for the St. Marys Community Players.

We managed to bring some of my ceramic work with us, mostly sculptural and art pottery, which  can be viewed by appointment with an email to:
